ACTIVITIES
Three investigation activities ('Dirtless Dig') that can be done by small-medium sized groups at the Wawn Homestead. Good for a range of grade levels, depending on guidance.
Dirtless Dig
An invaluable report done by some SFU summer students in 1971. Fascinating information about the lives of the Wawns during their time at this homestead. 1918-23 * PLEASE NOTE: This report has been kept in its original form and the formating and structure may seem funny and incomplete.

Pioneer Studies*

The McQueen Lake Area

The Wawn family at their homestead in 1921 near what is now the daycentre.

There are several opportunities to explore and investigate pioneer life at McQueen. There are the remains of the Wawn homestead near the McQueen Lake day centre, John Brown's cabin on the northeast shore of Griffin Lake, and the pioneer cabin at the overnight centre.

* Within the context of this page and the related supporting curriculum, pioneer refers to the homesteaders that settled in the area from roughly 1800-1930.
